I'm an adult with Cerebral Palsy?
It's a pretty mild case effecting my right side. As a child I worked hard and got to the point most people didn't know I had it. However as I age I am finding new challenges. I'm 34 and often feel 44. My head is full of grey hair and it's apparent that I'm aging faster than a "normal" person. I get tired faster. Sometimes I limp when I get too tired. My muscles often stiffen up on me too. However when I go to the doctor they don't know what to tell me. It's like they have no idea about an adult with CP. It's known as a childhood illness but children grow up. As many major illnesses run in the family as we age I wonder if I should look out for them earlier than the age they usually affect other family members but again the doctors aren't sure about that either. Are there any other adults with CP out there reading this? If so how do you cope and what should I expect as I continue to age?
